The Southern New England Model Railroad Club is an O
Scale model railroad club located in Gardner Massachusetts. The club currently has eleven
members and operates a 21' x 83' Modular layout. The Southern New England Model Railroad
Club was a cosponsor of New England 98 the 1998 National O Scale Convention. "Our
layout was on display there and will be on display at the Amherst Railway
Society Big Train Show to be held January, 2008 at the Eastern
States Exposition grounds in West Springfield Massachusetts. The Layout will
also be on display at the 2008 O Scale National Convention, July 23rd through July
26th, at the DCU Center in Worcester Massachusetts.
The clubs schedule of events include Wednesday evening work sessions and the third Wednesday of each month is an operating session. There is a monthly business meeting that is closed to all but members and is held on the first Friday of each month.
"We have begun construction of the Roland Roberts yard for our permanent layout." The layout will include a double track main line interchanging with a single track main line. The state of the art design provides a linear walk-around model railroad using the "mushroom" techniques to greatly increase running length. It's a great design and will be a large undertaking for the membership. Please check our progress on the permanent by clicking on the "Layout Const. Update" button on the left. Anyone interested in visiting or possibly becoming a member should contact Dennis Lyons the club's membership chairman....
